Dissertação/Mestrado: O JOGO DE PAPÉIS (RPG) COMO TECNOLOGIA EDUCACIONAL E O PROCESSO DE APRENDIZAGEM NO ENSINO MÉDIO. (Matheus Vieira Silva)

ABSTRACT
The present research aims to study the use of Role Playing Game as educational technology supporting the learning process in the high school level. Starting with the conceptualization of game from studies such as Brougère’s (1998), Huizinga’s (2007), Silva’s (2005), we explained what RPG is and how it works.
Studying some Brazilian dissertations and researches about RPG we related this game to learning. We also studied the relationship between technology, society and education, to understand the shift from traditional to the contemporary education, we relate the Society of Knowledge, technological changes, and their reflections on education regarding teaching practice, resistance to change, collaborative learning as well what students learn (or should learn) at school and how they learn in extraclass situations even at school. To characterize student involvement in RPG during voluntary and mandatory sessions, we observed and recorded games sessions, and applied post questionnaires. We noticed that, when the game is played in an environment outside the classroom, with the possibility of volunteering, the RPG has new elements that contribute to the learning process.
